Brenda G. Friedman Honored in 2025 Women in Law List

Kogut & Wilson is pleased to announce Brenda G. Friedman has been recognized in Chicago Daily Law Bulletin’s sixth annual Women in Law List. This list recognizes and honors influential women in law who work to mentor and promote other women in the profession, act as shining examples of leadership and achieve success in the legal community.

As a partner, Brenda is known for her meticulous preparation and her ability to bring strategic clarity to complex family law disputes. She navigates matters involving significant assets, parental responsibilities, support and post-decree issues with the financial insight and steadiness clients rely on during difficult transitions. By reviewing financial information with precision, negotiating thoughtful agreements and developing cost-effective, 360-view strategies, she guides clients toward practical, balanced resolutions. Her judgment and detail-centered approach have made her a trusted resource to clients and a defining force in the firm’s success.

Throughout her career, Brenda has distinguished herself as a trusted advocate and an influential mentor whose guidance shapes both the firm and the broader legal community. Colleagues describe her as a “knowledge bank” who leads by example, delegates thoughtfully and readily steps in to address challenging questions. Beyond the firm, she extends this commitment to uplifting others by presenting for HalfMoon Education Inc. and volunteering through her daughters’ school Parent–Teacher Organization, where she lends her support to classroom and community initiatives.

Within Kogut & Wilson, Brenda has been instrumental in managing firm operations. She oversees paralegal assignments and billing, promotes consistency across cases and organizes regular check-ins that encourage communication and accountability. By fostering a collaborative environment where team members feel supported and informed, Brenda strengthens the firm’s efficiency, cohesion and ability to produce high-quality client service.

Brenda represents individuals in a full range of family and matrimonial law matters, including financial issues, parental responsibility matters and post-decree modifications. She negotiates and drafts pre- and post-nuptial agreements, reviews financial information related to assets, liabilities, expenses and income and works with clients to develop strategies that support productive settlement negotiations.

Brenda works to ensure her clients are able to resolve their family law matters with the least possible emotional toll and to make them comfortable as they move onto to the next phase of their life.
